Located at the base of the NorthStar ski resort, this cabin remodel transformed a small, outdated vacation home into a modern luxury ski lodge. The project added significant square footage, including a formal entry with a vaulted ceiling, a front mudroom, two master bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, and an expansive living room and kitchen. Despite high construction costs and environmental concerns, the client preserved the original cabin's roof and wall structures. Large floor-to-ceiling windows brought in ample daylight and solar heat during the dark winter months, enhancing the lodge's warmth and energy efficiency. In the summer, these windows opened up to connect the interior seamlessly with the surrounding forest canopy. The remodel emphasized sustainability, blending modern luxury with environmental sensitivity. This thoughtful transformation not only enhanced the cabin's aesthetic appeal but also its functionality, making it a year-round retreat. The result was a harmonious balance between modern design and natural beauty, creating a luxurious yet eco-friendly ski lodge.
